Last month, some of you may recall that I posted a Casting Call asking for dogs who were available on a specific weekend for a 20 minute mini session. I post these when I’m looking for a certain breed, a certain look, or if I want to try out a new location or new piece of equipment. In this particular case, I was renting the Canon 135mm f2 lens (which I adored, by the way!) and I never trust myself to experiment with a new lens on a paying client. Casting Call sessions have been a great way for people to get one great photo of their pet if they’re not financially able to invest in a full portrait session, (mini sessions are that way, also, and less ‘experimental’ in nature, so keep an eye out for those!) and they’re a great way for me to “play” without feeling guilty or scheduling a reshoot if a session only yields a few good images. The response for this was so great, I decided to take on a full weekend of FREE mini sessions, so that I could get as much practice as possible with this lens.
Here are some of the images from my weekend of THIRTY dogs!
You may recognize Bogey from his parent’s engagement session.
Timber and Toby stole my heart! Toby’s ice blue eyes stare right through you, and Timber’s adorable ears and fun expressions were so cute!
Zak, Min Min, Troy, and Morrigan are owned by the President of Distinguished Dobermans Rescue.
Splash, Patch, and Dixie are such a fun trio! Their dad is a professional trainer!
Specks has been on my radar for such a long time! Her momma and I have several mutual friends, and we’ve been friends on Facebook and Instagram for a while now. Do yourself a favor… Go on IG and check out #creepinlikeastage5clinger. You won’t be sorry 🙂
Mocha is such a goofy girl! I loved her expressions and those teeth! (which her mom and dad say are NEVER out like they were for her session!)
Marley is the prettiest yellow lab I’ve seen in such a long time (okay, that may be a lie. They’re *all* the prettiest). Her brother Dodger snuck in for a photo-opp too! These two were so well-behaved! They train with Sit Means Sit Pittsburgh.
Dixie and Mack had such pretty headshots! I met Mack last year at PVSEC’s blood drive screening!
Oh, Josie. Josie is the cousin of Colby, and I had been dying to meet her for months. How cute is that face?
Jack’s momma is a friend of mine from a Dane group on Facebook. He also has had the pleasure of seeing just how bad Emmet was in training before we started working with our current trainer 🙂 This boy is so stunning, and can you believe he’s not even 2?!
We met Freya at A&B Canine Training this year. She’s such a pretty girl, and has a keen taste for fast food (and a knack for thievery) 😉
Charlie is such a dapper old man! I loved the way he crossed his paws on his own. Even though he had no interest in a photo session, his images turned out great!
Zeva, Zeke, Zoey, and Zeus are quite the clan! I’m so glad we got one awesome head-shot of each pup!
I had so much fun with all of these guys! Thank you to all of you pet parents who brought them out 🙂 My job is so cool!
